About

A small, open standard for portable preferences.

The Open Preference Initiative is a set of three short specs — OPI-PD, OPI-EPS, OPI-TRUST — that lets you keep the preferences you already repeat (language, dietary, accessibility, comms) in one place and expose them to services through protocols you control.

The specs are published in openpreference/opi. This site is the reference implementation: a hosted server anyone can use, run by Late Summer Labs, that shows the specs working end to end.

What this is not.

Who runs it.

openpreference.org is operated by Late Summer Labs. The specs themselves are governed through the process described in GOVERNANCE.md.
